Mark Straw B.Vet.Med CertSAS MRCVS is available to accept referrals in the disciplines of Orthopaedics and spinal surgery. Selected soft tissue cases can also be discussed with Mark. He is always happy to discuss cases with Veterinary Surgeons whether or not the case proceeds to referral.

Referral services offered:-

FRACTURE MANAGEMENT

  • Internal fixation - AO/ASIF
  • External fixation - IMEX linear and hybrid fixators/KE external fixators/APEF

JOINT DISEASE

  • Lameness investigation
  • Arthroscopic diagnosis and treatment
  • Hip dysplasia – surgical or medical management.
  • Cruciate disease
  • Arthrodesis
  • Growth abnormalities

Spinal surgery

  • Radiography including contrast studies/myelography
  • Intervertebral disc disease – hemilaminectomy/fenestration/ventral slot
  • Lumbosacral compression syndrome – dorsal laminectomy
  • Post operative hospitalisation and physiotherapy

Radiograph reporting

Radiographs assessed and report faxed on day of receipt.

To refer a case please contact the Hospital on (01302) 534999 or download the referral form (attached as PDF) and fax to (01302) 534118. We will then contact the client directly to arrange a suitable appointment. In cases that require urgent treatment please contact Mark Straw directly such that a suitable appointment can be scheduled.

Please supply all relevant clinical history and any radiographs/lab reports available. These can either be posted or given to the client to bring to their appointment. A full report will be faxed prior to discharge from the hospital and follow-up reports will be given as appropriate.
