Surgery

We are able to perform a wide range of surgical procedures not only on dogs and cats but also on rabbits and other small furries. As well as a veterinary team who are experienced in general surgery, Mr Rouviere, who has recently passed the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery performs more complicated procedures on a daily basis.

Mr Mark Straw gained his Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2001 and since this time has been performing Orthopaedic and Spinal surgery both in patients of Beechwood Veterinary Hospital and those referred from practices from around the region.

Examples of surgical procedures performed:-

  • Neutering: dog, cat and rabbit castrations and spays.
  • Wound management: from the stitch up for the small straightforward cut to complex skin grafting for the very severe wound.
  • Soft tissue surgery – Removing benign/malignant tumours, correcting eyelid abnormalities etc.
  • Surgery of the liver, stomach or intestines – foreign body removal, bloat, tumour removal.
  • Orthopaedic surgery: fracture repair, tendon or ligament injuries, arthritis, growth problems
