Dr Mark Straw

Mark graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1996 during which time he gained a particular interest in Small Animal Orthopaedics dedicating the majority of his final year to the study of this subject. Graduation was accompanied by 2 awards for outstanding achievement in the Small Animal Hospital.

His first year post graduation was spent working in a 2 vet small animal practice in Misterton during which he gained the essential skills that would form the basis of his career. After a year in Misterton Mark moved to Jack, Johnson and Hammill on Regent Terrace which subsequently became Beechwood Veterinary Hospital now at its current location on Bawtry Road.

In 2001, after 3 years of intensive study Mark gained the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Small Animal Surgery achieving one of the highest marks of the year. From this he developed a busy referral case load both from within the practice and from practices throughout Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Mark has particular interest in the management of fractures and orthopaedic conditions in young dogs.  Mark maintains and updates his knowledge by attending regular courses both here in the UK and abroad. Mark became clinical director at Beechwood Veterinary Hospital in March 2009. He gained the RCVS Advanced Practitioner Status in Small Animal Surgery in 2015.
